2 King's Bench Walk is a highly respected set of chambers, which specialises in criminal, civil and family law, throughout London, the south of England and the Midlands.

We are offering one pupillage to commence in October 2020, which will predominantly focus on criminal law. However, if a pupil wishes to gain experience in family or civil law, there will be an opportunity to do so.

Chambers has a reputation for excellence in all areas of criminal law and our members are frequently instructed to prosecute and defend in the most high-profile and serious cases. By offering exposure to this kind of work, coupled with the training and guidance provided by excellent pupil supervisors, pupillage at 2KBW is an ideal footing for those who wish to pursue a career at the criminal bar.

In the first six months, the pupil will spend time with their supervisor in court as well as receiving training in written work and case preparation. In their second six months, the pupil will appear in court on a daily basis as well as undertake advisory work and drafting. The pupil will travel to courts across London, the South Eastern, the Western Circuit and the Midlands.

The pupillage award for 2020 will be £24,000: £12,000 of which will be paid over the course of the first six months and £12,000 over the course of the second six months by way of guaranteed earnings.

Application is via the Pupillage Gateway and selected candidates will be asked to attend a preliminary interview. Those who are successful at that stage will be invited to a second interview, which will incorporate an advocacy exercise.

Known for our friendly and approachable manner, we look for the same in our pupils. The successful applicant will be a well-rounded individual with proven academic ability. We take on pupils with a view to tenancy and only consider those who have a demonstrable commitment to the bar and a commitment to our Chambers.

Pupillage at 2 King's Bench Walk is a highly rewarding experience and is designed to be the foundation for making exceptional barristers.
