One Brick Court are leading specialists in media, communications and information law. Our areas of work include defamation, privacy, breach of confidence, data protection, harassment, freedom of information, reporting restrictions, contempt of court, human rights and other media-related work.

Members of chambers act for claimants and defendants. Clients include leading newspapers, broadcasters and publishers, global internet and social media companies, individuals (high-profile and low-profile), companies (large and small), public and governmental bodies, and NGOs.

As the legal and technological landscape changes, we work at the cutting edge of new and evolving legal developments. Our experience and expertise enables us to bring new perspectives to the legal problems our clients face. We provide specialist advice, high-calibre representation and a responsive client service. We help clients to deal with a wide range of issues arising both before and after publication.

One Brick Court is a friendly set. At present, we have 19 members of chambers (11 men, 8 women) and 4 staff. We seek to offer a high standard of training. During a 12-month pupillage, each pupil has the opportunity to spend time with a series of busy and experienced juniors as supervisors, as well as being involved in the life of chambers. Pupils have the opportunity to work “in-house” on secondment to newspaper publishers or broadcasters as part of their pupillage.

We want applicants of a high academic standard, with a proven interest in our fields of work, who have the potential to become successful practitioners. We are committed to equality and diversity and encourage and welcome applications from women and men, people of minority ethnic origin and people with disabilities, as well as candidates from other groups which are underrepresented in the legal sector.

We do not require applicants to have studied law for their degree. Only in exceptional circumstances will we consider applicants with a degree-level qualification lower than a 2.1.
