If you want to develop a career at the Chancery Commercial Bar then we may be the Set for you. We will provide exposure to our core areas of practice of trusts and estates, commercial litigation, civil fraud, company, insolvency and property. You may well also gain experience in other areas such as: professional negligence, intellectual property, public law and in offshore and international work.

Work can be demanding and will certainly be mentally stimulating. You will obtain an excellent grounding in the disciplines required to make a successful career at the Bar.

Applicants will usually have a first or good upper second degree, although not necessarily in law. We look for enthusiastic individuals with creative flair who will take an active part in the life of chambers.

We offer one 12 month pupillage, terminable after 6 months on either side, which carries an award of £65,000. Pupils undertake four ‘seats’ of three months, each with a different pupil supervisor, in order to experience the full range of Chambers’ work. Chambers ‘Open-Door Policy’ means that Pupils will learn something of the practices of other members of chambers in addition to those of their pupil supervisors.

How to apply
1. Applications should be made via the Chambers’ pupillage application form and saved in MS Word format
2. Applications may only be made by email and should be sent to with “Pupillage application” as the subject heading
3. The application email should consist only of the completed application form attached as an MS Word Document. There is no need for any further text.

The closing date for applications for pupillage beginning October 2020 is 18 January 2019.
