We provide financial support comprising of a grant of £15,000 for each 12-month pupil (in accordance with current Bar Council requirements) and guaranteed billings of £15,000 for the second six. In our experience, many pupils will bill far more than the guaranteed amount. Chambers also pays reasonable travel expenses during the first six and any compulsory training costs.
Chambers was established in 1973 by a small group of Manchester barristers. Through gradual expansion we are now a select set of exceptional practitioners, all of whom are committed to Chambers’ original ethos of excellence in practice. A number of our members have gone onto the High Court bench and to sit in the Court of Appeal.
We pride ourselves on an objective and personal approach, providing clear advice of the best quality. Our commitment to first class advice and representation has led to many of our members appearing at the highest level with cases being reported in law reports and in the media. A number of us sit as recorders, have been selected for the attorney-general’s list and sit in a judicial capacity on tribunals. Our practitioners have also been called upon to appear in the European Court of Justice as well as in courts in foreign jurisdictions.
Client care is of paramount importance to us. Our superior levels of service have led to us obtaining Quality Mark, the Community Legal Services mark of excellence.
Chambers is an equal opportunities employer and all applications will be treated in strictest confidence.
Application is by application form which can be downloaded from our website www.18sjs.com from 1 January 2019, and submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post for the attention of The Assistant to the Chambers Manager.
