2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings is a well established set having been formed in 1988. As a set we specialise in Family and Crime primarily and seek pupils to join these teams. Care proceedings in particular being a growth area for 2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings alongside criminal instructions for both the Crown and Defence.
Chambers offers up to two twelve month funded pupillages each year. Pupils will receive the London Living Wage of £18,436. This comprises a grant of £9,218 spread over the first six months and guaranteed earnings of £1,536 a month during their second six. Pupils are invited to apply for tenancy and applications for tenancy are usually made after the completion of a third six.

In their first six months, pupils can expect to be supervised by up to two members of Chambers who specialise in either crime or family law. First six pupils will undertake regular advocacy exercises and receive on-going feedback from their pupil supervisor. In their second six months, pupils can expect to receive instructions to appear in court on a daily basis. The work will consist of criminal and family matters including briefs in the magistrates’ courts, family courts and some matters in the crown court.
