Description
2 King's Bench Walk is a highly respected set of chambers, which specialises in criminal, civil and family law, throughout London, the south of England and the Midlands.

We are offering up to two pupillages to commence in October 2021, which will specialise in criminal law, although there may be an opportunity for pupils to gain experience in family or civil law. Please note there is a separate advert and application process for pupillage commencing in 2020 at our chambers.

The pupillage award for 2021 will be £24,000; £12,000 of which will be paid over the course of the first six months and £12,000 over the course of the second six months by way of guaranteed earnings. Reasonable travel expenses will be paid when not undertaking paid instructions during pupillage.

Chambers has a reputation for excellence in all areas of criminal law and our members are frequently instructed to prosecute and defend in the most high-profile and serious cases throughout the country. Therefore, although based in London, pupils will undertake travel across London, the South Eastern, the Western Circuit and the Midlands during pupillage.

In the first six months, pupils will spend time with their supervisor in court as well as receiving training in written work and case preparation. In their second six months, pupils will appear in court on a daily basis as well as undertaking advisory work and drafting.

Known for our friendly and approachable manner, we look for the same in our pupils. The successful applicant will be a well-rounded individual with proven academic ability. We take on pupils with a view to tenancy and only consider those who have a demonstrable commitment to the bar and a clear commitment to our chambers. In the last 5 years, 8 pupils have been offered tenancy and all accepted.

Pupillage at 2 King's Bench Walk is a highly rewarding experience and is designed to be the foundation for making exceptional barristers.

Applications should be submitted via the Pupillage Gateway. A selection of exceptional candidates will be invited for a preliminary interview and those who are successful at that stage will be invited to a second interview, which will incorporate an advocacy exercise.
