Fenners Chambers is looking for up to two pupils to begin common law pupillages in September 2022.
Fenners Chambers is committed to providing diverse and well-rounded training to pupils. The first six months of pupillage is divided into two-month periods, each of which is spent working in the three common law specialisms: civil; crime; and family. Pupils can expect to be in court most days shadowing members of chambers, as well as completing written work and advocacy exercises. We expect our pupils to work hard during their year, but to also have time to enjoy themselves.
The second six months of pupillage is spent in supervised practice. In addition to undertaking their own work, second six pupils are expected to continue preparing written work for members of chambers and join them at court when they are able.
A pupil’s performance is assessed throughout the year by way of regular advocacy assessments and written exercises. Feedback is sought by the pupillage committee from all members of chambers and the clerks in advance of any decision on tenancy at the conclusion of pupillage. We are committed to recruiting new tenants from our pupils whenever possible and offer pupillage with this objective in mind.
Application should be made using the pupillage application form available to download from our website
. Applications will open on 4 January 2021 and close on 8 February 2021.
