KBG Chambers

Chambers of Mr Deni Mathews

KBG Chambers is a traditional common law set with tenants practising in Family, Crime and Civil. We are interested in receiving applications from prospective pupils who wish to practice in any of these areas.

We predominantly undertake work in Devon and Cornwall, but work outside of these areas from time to time.

Our process for selecting pupils aims to identify those who will be outstanding candidates to join Chambers as tenants at the end of their pupillage year. We are proud of our high pupil retention rate.

Our pupils can look forward to a high level of training from their pupil supervisors, all of whom are specialists in their respective fields. Not only will pupils be supported by their supervisors, but they will also receive the support and guidance from other members of chambers, as well as the clerking team.

We are looking for pupils with a strong academic record (ideally a 2(i) degree) although we may consider applicants with lower results that can demonstrate a high level of relevant experience and a commitment to working at the bar. We also seek applicants with a desire to work on the Western Circuit, and be based in the South West.

Pupillage interviews will be held in March/April 2020, and will be in person, at our Chambers in Plymouth. Any offers of pupillage will be made after 9am on 7 May 2020.

KBG Chambers is committed to equal opportunities and our recruitment policies have been designed to prevent any discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, disability, sexuality, religion and age.

For mini-pupillage applications please apply online to Michael Brown via email at with a copy of your CV and a covering letter with dates of availability included.

Chambers aims to recruit one or two pupils each year.
