5RB is the leading set of specialist media and communications law barristers. We are seeking to recruit a pupil to start a 12-month pupillage with us commencing in October 2021.
5RB specialises in all areas of media and communications law (primarily defamation, privacy, data protection, breach of confidence, copyright, reporting restrictions, and contempt of court). We are the only set to specialise exclusively in these fields. Our members act for both claimants and defendants and provide advice and representation to press, television, radio, book and electronic publishers, as well as to individuals, businesses and not-for-profit entities. Members of 5RB regularly appear in the most high-profile and groundbreaking cases.
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate high intellectual ability and academic achievement (usually at least a 2:1 degree). In addition, we look for applicants with relevant experience (including mini-pupillages, not necessarily at 5RB, and other work experience) who can demonstrate an interest in our work and an aptitude for successful practice in our specialist areas.
Pupils at 5RB generally spend 3-month periods with 4 different pupil supervisors. The pupillage will carry an award of £30,000 paid in 4 equal instalments.
The following questions will form the Pupillage Application Questionnaire section
of the application form for this pupillage vacancy. These are included here to allow
you to prepare in advance.
