What Are We After?
We are looking for a pupil who has the potential to become an outstanding barrister and join our specialist team. We are keen to recruit a bright, independently-minded person who is articulate, confident, and perceptive. You should be keen to learn, have the ability to get on with all people, and be able to demonstrate common sense and good judgment. We value diversity and encourage creative and original thinking. Look at our website for the proof of the pudding.
Chambers selection criteria is also published on our website at http://whitestonechambers.com/join-us.html
Your pupillage is 12 months. You will have one assigned pupil supervisor at any given time. We place great worth on training a pupil how to learn the principles of managing a practice and learning how to interact with clerks and solicitors and also to manage both lay and professional client expectations. We will train you to seek out detail and be precise in how you problem solve, never forgetting the need for creativity within the process of developing commercial solutions that are real as well as realistic. As with all the leading commercial sets, our first year tenant will receive in excess of £50,000 during their first year of practice. This figure illustrates the volume and quality of the commercial work that Chambers services for its clients.
We are committed to equal opportunities and diversity and aim to select candidates for both pupillage and tenancy solely on merit irrespective of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality , ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. We will consider any reasonable adjustments needed to ensure that you can participate in our selection process fairly.
To obtain a first interview, candidates must show first class academic ability (though not necessarily a first-class degree) and evidence of advocacy potential. Further details on applying can be found on our website
. An assessed mini pupillage may be required. All applications to be made in writing to chambers to include a one page covering letter and a C.V. sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please provide your mobile phone number in your covering letter. Please arrange for us to be provided with two references.
