Browne Jacobson LLP is a full service national law firm with offices in Birmingham, Exeter, London, Manchester and Nottingham — with an impressive client portfolio including blue chip corporates, local and owner managed businesses, NHS Trusts, major insurers, education and public sector organisations. Our lawyers are highly experienced across a wide variety of sectors — from local authorities, health and insurance to corporates and charities, working together to provide access to a full range of commercial and public sector legal services.
Barristers at Browne Jacobson specialise in regulatory and public law, in the fields of health, education and social work, as well as on behalf of major insurers. We are instructed to prosecute on behalf of national regulators and briefed to conduct high profile inquests for health organisations and government bodies. The firm has also represented in respect to national public inquiries including the Grenfell tower fire, the Manchester arena tragedy, and, in the recent past, Hillsborough.
The firm has three regulated Pupil Supervisors, and a further seven employed barristers whose workload appearing in courts and undertaking advisory work is split approximately 50:50. Our team of employed barristers and in-house advocates regularly appear before senior courts and tribunals across England and Wales and may be required to develop specialisms in any of the areas of law mentioned above.
We are offering one funded 12 month pupillage at our Exeter office. The pupillage is offered within our insurance and public sector of the business and will involve work with teams across the sector, with a particular focus civil, regulatory and public law. As part of the pupillage travel nationally may be required, including to our other offices. Please note however that all travel expenses are also met by the firm in addition to the annual pupillage award. For further information about our pupillage programme please take a look at our pupillage policy which is available on our website at https://www.brownejacobson.com/careers/join-us/pupillage.
All pupillages offered by Browne Jacobson are with a view to permanent employment as a qualified barrister within the firm at the end of the pupillage, subject to individual performance during the pupillage, and business need.
