4 Brick Court Chambers - 12 months - October 2021
4 Brick Court is a leading specialist Family law set in the Temple in close proximity to the main Family Law Centres in London. We also have a large presence in the outer London courts and further afield.
We are committed to considered expansion of our Chambers. The most important element of this is to recruit and develop talented barristers from the start of their careers. We have a clear and effective training program during pupillage that promotes support, equality, fairness and wellbeing. You will have 3 pupil supervisors, each for 4 months. Above all, our approach produces experienced, strong advocates that we are very keen to retain.
Our barristers are known primarily for their excellence in legal knowledge and skilled, robust advocacy. We have a strong reputation for being approachable in advising yet fiercely representing our clients in court. We would expect candidates to show the potential to share these skills and qualities. As a pupil, you will have regular contact with the entire membership of chambers.
Barristers at 4 Brick Court regularly appear in leading cases that shape the development of family justice. We have a strong reputation for representing all parties in public child law. We also cover the full range of private child law and financial remedies. Successful applicants will be able to show a commitment, practical or otherwise, to these areas of family law.
4 Brick Court is a modern set with a forward-looking approach. Our clerking and administrative teams are supportive and adaptive to the many changes facing the modern Family Bar.
We are recruiting 2 pupils to start in October 2022. Remuneration for the 2021/22 pupillage is £20,500 per pupil plus 9 months paid travel expenses. Remuneration for 2021/2023 pupillage has yet to be quantified but will be in line with the recommendations by the Living Wage Foundation, plus 9 months paid travel expenses. 4 Brick Court is an accredited London Living Wage Employer. In addition to the pupillage award, pupils retain their own second six earnings. On average our pupils bill between £20,000 to £30,000 for work undertaken and receive between £10,000 to £18,000 in actual fees during their second six months. None of the monies earned are recouped by Chambers.
