2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings is an established set having been formed in 1988. As a Chambers we primarily specialise in Family and Criminal Law and seek pupils to join these teams. Care proceedings is a growing area for 2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings alongside maintaining criminal instructions for both the Crown and Defence.

2 Dr Johnson’s Buildings offer up to two twelve month funded pupillages every year. Pupils are invited to apply for tenancy and applications are usually made after the completion of the 12-month pupillage. An emphasis is placed on the training and retention of pupils with pupillages being with a view to tenancy.

In the first six months pupils can expect to be supervised by at least two members of Chambers exposing pupils to both Family and Criminal law. First six pupils will undertake regular advocacy training exercises and receive ongoing feedback from their pupil supervisors. In their second six months pupils can expect to receive instructions to appear in court on a daily basis. This work consisting of both family and criminal matters including briefs in the magistrates’ court, family court and crown court.
