4 King's Bench Walk is a common law set covering practice areas including Property, Family, Personal Injury, Crime, Immigration, Regulatory and Employment law. Chambers encourages pupils to gain experience in all of these areas during the course of pupillage so that they can then make an informed decision as to where their skills and interests lie. Typically, pupillage is divided between three supervisors, each specialising in a different area of Chambers' work. In addition to gaining an insight into their supervisors' practice, pupils will also work for, and go to Court with, other members of Chambers. Once in second six, priority will be given to a pupil's own caseload. Pupils can expect to be in Court most days when in their second six, although Chambers will always ensure that pupils have time kept clear if needed for preparation or paperwork. If taken on, junior tenants tend to specialise in one or two practice areas after their initial few years in chambers, but this is up to the individual practitioner.

Chambers attaches great importance to pupillage and always aims to recruit its junior tenants from its pupils. Chambers has an excellent record of recruiting from its pupils, and pupils are not in competition with each other for a limited number of spaces.

Chambers offers up to two pupillages each year, with an award of £10,000 in the first six months and guaranteed earnings of at least £10,000 in the second six. For the past 4 years at least the guaranteed earnings figure has been significantly exceeded by pupils. Chambers also funds attendance on any course a pupil needs to attend in order to qualify.

4 King's Bench Walk looks for pupils with articulacy, a fluent writing style and a commitment to the Bar and to Chambers. Chambers is a friendly and supportive set and we look for pupils who are enthusiastic about the types of work that we do.
