Description
Broadway House is a very busy set with particularly strong family and criminal teams which we wish to expand with the addition of pupils. The end of the covid restrictions has meant a significant increase in the work load for these teams.

All recent pupils have begun earning in their second six months and have exceeded the guaranteed earnings amount.

On completion of a pupillage each pupil will be considered for a tenancy. Chambers will consider how well the particular pupil has completed their pupillage, reports from the pupil supervisor, and any other relevant matters. It is hoped that an offer of a pupillage can be made, but it is not guaranteed.

If a tenancy is offered the new tenant will be expected to commence their practice, in the area of law in which they did their pupillage. This is so that particular team can develop and expand, thereby offering a better service to our instructing solicitors.

Criminal pupils will experience a range of work in the Magistrates and Crown courts, prosecuting and defending. They will observe trials in the crown court and be expected to assist in the preparation of case summaries, applications, skeleton arguments and the forms now required for different court hearings.

Financial remedy pupils will experience conferences, dispute resolution hearings and final hearings. They will be expected to assist with the preparation for conferences, legal research, drafting position statements, skeletons arguments and orders.

Pupils will be expected to join in social functions organized both by the individual teams and chambers and get to know the members of their respective teams.

Interviews will be offered to those with a good academic background who can show a commitment to the law and to the area their wish to practice in and a commitment to the North of England. Each year we receive a large number of applications. It is not easy to choose those to interview. It is therefore important to standout, and state not just that you are suitably qualified but also what you can bring to your chosen team and to chambers.
