FOURTEEN is a leading specialist family law set with a national reputation. We undertake high-quality work for a wide client base, which includes private client and Legal Aid solicitors, large city firms and individual Public-Access lay clients. We have occupied a prominent position in the London legal market for many years.
We have consistently been recognised as a leading family-law set in the legal directories. Chambers and Partners comment that we have “substantial strength in both children and matrimonial finance proceedings” and that our barristers “frequently appear in cases with multi-jurisdictional elements, and regularly handle matters of great complexity involving issues such as trusts, offshore accounts, and allegations of abuse.” The Legal 500 quotes our clients saying FOURTEEN is an “Outstanding set of chambers”, “a great set of care barristers and is always a top pick” and that we have “excellent barristers at all levels of seniority. The fact that it is exclusively a family law chambers means that every member is specialist in the area.” We are also noted for members who are ˜very personable on a human level and not at all stuck up” whose “clerks are unfailingly helpful” and “friendly”.
We have dedicated practice teams for children, family finance, Court of Protection and international family law. Many of our members are Public-Access qualified and several also undertake arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Pupillage at FOURTEEN is fulfilling and fun whilst preparing you for a life at the Family Bar. We offer up to two 12-month pupillage each year. Our pupils have the opportunity to see all areas of family law. Each pupil will have three supervisors during their year and can expect to accompany other members of Chambers to Court on a regular basis.
FOURTEEN provides its pupils with comprehensive training before they start “on their feet” in the second six months. This includes advocacy exercises, drafting, legal research and practice in client conferences.
For pupils starting in October 2023, the award will be £37,000. Pupils also retain all their earnings in the second six months, and we will fund any training a pupil has to undertake. Second-six pupils can expect to be on their feet regularly.
